Visit all 50 states
- Alaska
- Arizona: Completed: January, 2004
The Navajo Nation service trip was my first visit to Arizona. Wow, I can't believe that people live without basic modern conveniences that I take for granted. During the trip: an 80 year old woman laughed at my feeble attempts to chop wood and promptly took the ax from me decisively putting my chopping skills to shame, I completed my first hike that cultimated in an awe-inspiring few moments in a canyon where one can fully appreciate natural beauty and wonder at how small you really are, I went on a police ride along - the laws in Navajo Nation are sooo different. At the station the police brought in a parent whose daughter had committed a crime at school. In this nation, parents are ultimately held responsible for their minor children. This was a wonderful eye-opening trip.
- Arkansas
- California: Completed
I could use my birth in Downey, CA as completion of this item but I wont. I went to San Francisco with Jason. We fought A LOT. But overall we had a great time traveling by cable car, shopping, and visiting Alcatraz. The trip to Alcatraz was really interesting. We went at night and as we rode on the boat to the facility it started to drizzle and mist, thereby setting the stage for the visit to this historic jail.
- Colorado
- Connecticut: Completed
John's wedding
- Delaware
- Florida: Completed
Orlando with the PHS choir
- Georgia: Completed
Atlanta for Camille's 25th birthday! I have to go back, we never made it to Gladys Knights!!
-Hawaii: Completed
The best graduation gift ever - 2 weeks in Maui!! Thanks Aunt Gina! The Road to Hana was slightly frightening but overall a really memorable, amazing experience. My only regret was that I didn't have the guts to jump off of the cliff into the natural pool... after the story of the woman jumping off, knocking her teeth out, and having to be taken via helicopter to the hospital I chickened out - womp! Other great times during the trip were: visiting Pearl Harbor, some fine dining at Roy's, a hilarious comedy/magic show, and visiting various art galleries.
- Idaho
- Illinois: Completed
I've been to Chicago numerous times to visit Adwoa and I always have a great time. The Taste is so much fun... eating food all day, who could ask for more?
- Indiana: Completed: November 8, 2009
Colts-Texans game in Indianapolis. In attendance: Adwoa, Joy, TJ, Jessica, Crystal, and 2 of TJ's cousins. Unfortunately, the Texans lost but it was a great game. P.S. - This is the first and last time I'm going to sit in nose bleed. We were literally in the LAST row of the stadium!!
- Iowa
- Kansas: Completed June 17th-19th (2010)
Spent the weekend visiting Brandon for the first time. Kansas was kinda cool - not exactly what I was expecting. We had a chill weekend hanging out, eating, going to see the movie Karate Kid. Who knows, maybe I'll be back...
- Kentucky
- Louisiana
- Maine: Completed: August 2nd - 5th (2010)
I owe my first trip to Maine to Hyde Leadership Charter School. The four days I spent in Maine tested my physical ability as well as my mental toughness. By far the best thing I did while in Maine was to complete the rope course. When the instructor was explaining the challenges my initial thought was...oh hell no! But I did every single challenge including jumping off a 40 foot ledge and doing a free fall. Leaving the retreat I feel so grateful and inspired by everything we did this week.
- Maryland: Completed
My first Baltimore experience was my 9th grade field trip. (I distinctly remember Joe Gillespie and friends returned to the meeting spot an hour late due to their pitstop at Hooters in the Inner Harbor. This prompted our frightened Biology teacher, Ms. Garbarino, to grab Joe Gillespie. Her husband, who was also chaperoning the trip had to literally pry her fingers off of him. Hilarious!) Anyhow, I later returned to the city to attend graduate school at Johns Hopkins University - definately a defining time period in my life.
- Massachusetts: Completed
Four years at Boston College. I'll miss dorm parties and parties at The Rat, shopping on Newbury Street, and my carefree life style. I wont miss the 12 feet of snow every winter!
- Michigan: Completed: March, 2010
Grand Rapids, MI for Michelle's bridal shower. Her family is funny as hell. The comments that were made as she opened her gifts followed by the jello shots... hilarious!!
- Minnesota
- Mississippi
- Missouri: Completed: June 17th - 19th (2010)
I flew into Kansas City to visit Brandon. We (I mean, he) went shopping in The Plaza. It's actually a really great shopping area. Next time my money has to be right so I can "throw it in the bag."
- Montana
- Nebraska
- Nevada: Completed: All-Star Weekend 2007
Vegas All-Star Weekend 2007 with Adwoa, Joy, and Kasharii. We had some fun time: going to Lebron James and Jay-Z's by-invite-only party at Tao (no neither Lebron or Jay-Z invited us, but luckily Joy knew the interior designer that deigned Tao), watching the pimps and hoes (literally) do crazy things at a party (can't tell what they were doing, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas), and getting into random cars in order to get where we needed to go (yeah, I recognize that in hind sight this was reckless behavior but considering we are all still alive, no harm no foul). Update: Memorial Day Weekend 2009 was one of the best times I've ever had!! Adwoa and I had did the damn thing! As Adwoa indicated on her twitter account: "Party at The Bank: Brian Michael Cox (a producer from Atlanta) denied at the door, TO 45 minute wait at the door, Kristan and Adwoa...ushered past the crowd and straight to VIP!" No we didn't have the $20,000 for a table in VIP, but we knew the right people. And that was only one of our Vegas experiences. One love to all of our newfound Vegas friends!!
