A massive, powerful cyclone has begun to slam into the flood-ravaged northern state of Queensland, as people take shelter from the devastating weather.

Tropical Cyclone Yasi, a Category 5 storm, the highest designation on Australia's classification system, made landfall late on Wednesday night, local time.

Austria to exhume possible Nazi-era mass grave at psych hospital

Austrian officials plan to exhume a mass grave near a psychiatric hospital that could contain victims of the Nazis' so-called euthanasia program.

Officials in the western Austrian city of Hall told UPI that they will begin digging in March, when the ground thaws. The process could take two years.

Arkansas Birds Dropping Dead, Fish Dying in Stream

Thousands of dead fish have turned up in an Arkansas river just days after 3,000 birds mysteriously dropped dead from the sky, but authorities say the deaths are not related.

An estimated 100,000 dead drum fish are floating along a 20-mile stretch of the Arkansas River and washing up on the river’s banks near the town of Ozark in the northwestern part of the state.

Innocent man jailed in Texas since 1979 now free

A Texas man imprisoned 30 years ago on rape and murder charges had his conviction overturned on Tuesday after DNA evidence exonerated him.

Cornelius Dupree Jr. spent more time behind bars than any other exonerated inmate in the state. Dallas County Judge Don Adams overturned his conviction Tuesday after DNA tests proved he could not have committed the crime.
